Finding Favor in the Eyes of God

Finding Favor in the Eyes of God

Dec 14, 2022

Have you ever stood on a new day, yearning for a sign of divine favor in your life? Does He favor us?

In moments of solitude and meditation, do you find yourself questioning whether the Almighty's grace could ever encompass your life, especially during times of trials and uncertainties? Does He delight in us?

Understanding God's Favor

It is said that favor is to feel or show approval, or preference for something or someone. What, then is God's favor? Favor can also be referred to as exceptional kindness and privilege from God.

It is His exceptional kindness and privilege, extended towards us, even when we least deserve it. Favor and grace, often intertwined, embody God’s compassion and love. But, do we deserve such favor? Reflecting on biblical teachings, we find an emphatic truth: God’s favor, much like His grace, is unmerited.

The Conditions of God's Favor

At the heart of receiving God's favor is the principle of loving Him and aligning our will with His. The Scripture reminds us that those who cherish God and follow His commandments bask in His favor. Yet, one may wonder, "How does my love for God influence His favor in my life?" This question invites us to reflect on our relationship with the Lord, encouraging a life lived according to His will.

The Manifestation of God's Favor

The lives of Joseph and Esther serve as quintessential examples of how God's favor operates beyond human logic.

Joseph, even as a slave, brought prosperity to Potiphar's household, a clear manifestation of God’s favor (Genesis 39:4). Esther, too, found favor in the eyes of all who saw her, including the king, because of her humble reliance on God (Esther 2:15-17).

These narratives teach us that God's favor can elevate us, irrespective of our present circumstances.

How to Obtain God's Favor

God’s favor is not something we can earn through deeds or merits; it is a gift, emanating from His presence in our lives. Scriptures in Psalm 5:12 and Psalm 84:11 assure us that righteousness and blamelessness in our walk with God surround us with His favor.

These verses are not about achieving perfection. Far from it because we can never be perfect. It is about pursuing a heart aligned with God’s desires.

The Unconditional Nature of God's Favor

God's favor is rooted in His unconditional love for us. It is a testament to His nature, and not a response to our actions. As Isaiah 66:2 reminds us, God looks upon those with a humble and contrite spirit.

Our remorse over sin and our reverence for His word attract His favor. This divine principle reassures us that, even in our lowest, God’s favor can lift us to heights unknown.

Experiencing God's Favor in Our Lives

The journey to experiencing God’s favor begins with a step of faith. It requires acknowledging our need for His grace and mercy. As we navigate the uncertainties of life, let us hold firm to the belief that God's favor is a shield around us, transforming our weeping into rejoicing (Psalm 30:5).

Conclusion

God’s favor is an unearned, undeserved gift that can impact our lives. It is available to all who seek a deeper relationship with the Lord God, those willing to love Him and follow His commandments.

As we step forward into each new day, may we do so with the hope and confidence that God’s favor will guide us, protect us, and bless us abundantly.

Remember, the favor of God is a treasure, one that guides, protects, and enriches our lives in ways beyond our understanding. May you walk in His favor, today and always.

Prayer for Favor, Grace, and Blessings

Dear Heavenly Father, we stand before You today, hearts open, seeking Your favor and grace. We acknowledge our unworthiness, yet are grateful for Your unconditional love.

Father, as we face the unknowns of today and tomorrow, we choose to place our trust in Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith. Thank You for the victories ahead, for Your protection, and for the strength to overcome the challenges we may face.

We are not fearful, for our trust is in You, Lord. Our future and our lives are in Your hands. We believe that by putting You first, everything in our lives will fall into place.

Lord, we ask for Your divine favor, not just for today but for all our tomorrows. May we, like Abraham, Moses, Joseph, and Daniel, find favor in Your eyes, not through our merit, but through Your grace.

Bless our families, guide us through trials, and help us remain joyful in every circumstance. For in Your favor, we find strength, hope, and the assurance of Your everlasting love.

In the precious name of Jesus, we pray,

Amen.
